2012 Horror Movies I Look Forward To

The Woman in Black February 3, 2012

This movie follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. I do not enjoy any of the Harry Potter franchise, which stars Radcliffe, but every time I see the trailer for this movie I become more and more interested.

Cabin in the Woods April 13, 2012

A group of college kids spend a weekend at a mysterious cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. This doesn’t tell us much, but I know Joss Whedon co-wrote and produced (he did Buffy & Angel) and Amy Acker stars (she was in Angel). The trailer looks good, so I think this one will be a good movie to check out in April!

Mother’s Day May 11, 2012

After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home, hoping their Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) can provide them with a getaway. The youngest brother, Johnny (Matt O’Leary), has been shot, and their back-stabbing former partner has gotten away with all the cash.

But when the brothers get home, they find that all their stuff is gone, and Mother is nowhere to be found: She lost the house months ago in a foreclosure. The new owners, Beth and Daniel and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers’ unwitting hostages.

Not long after, Mother arrives, along with the boys’ sister Lydia (Deborah Ann Woll), and it soon becomes clear that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening she brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons’ escape from the law.

Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the hostages struggle to make it through the night alive.

It doesn’t sound like something I would normally watch from how the movie begins, but I’m interested to see how this one will turn out.

One movie I’m not too sure about is Gingerclown 3D

1983: A group of high school students are having a great time near Hollywood Hills when they bump into the Loser from their school, Sam, who’s just on his way home. Sam would do anything in order to get Jenny’s attention, one of prettiest girls in school. Unfortunately she’s also the girlfriend of the school’s bully, Biff, the quarterback of the football team.
Biff and his buddies are keen to take Sam to the old abandoned amusement park to make him prove his courage as part of their initiation ceremony. They involve Jenny in their cruel game as the grand prize of the competition. Sam accepts the challenge, but the girl wouldn’t let him go in by himself; she follows him into the amusement park and a night they’ll never forget.
Because in the old park, hidden in the darkness, are frightening and somewhat eccentric monsters who love to torture innocent human beings while intensively annoying each other.

The trailer for this movie looks very strange, and I honestly thought it was a joke when I heard about this movie. Apparentlt it’s a “horror-comedy”…. I’m not sure about this one.

These are all of the movies that have caught my eye so far, have you heard of any other horror movies coming out?
