New Years

December 31, 2012

Good evening and happy new year to everyone.

New Years has never been a big deal to me. Usually I don’t plan on doing anything or if I do it doesn’t work out, so this year I decided to not plan anything and just relax at home. Turns out I’m tired from working this afternoon so it worked out well. I don’t usually make new years resolutions, but for 2013 I think I have one. I am usually pretty good with eating well, and I try my best to get out and take walks regularly. Plus I do walk to and from work, as well as at work so that is good. For 2013 though, I think I want to make sure that everyday I take a long walk, and if I don’t, I need to start doing my yoga and exercises again. I’ve been dealing with some health issues for a while now, which makes it very difficult to leave the house some days, but I am going to try my best to do this for my own well being. I’m not going to make some silly resolution such as giving up drinking (not that I drink all that often) or taking a 10km run everyday or something, because honestly, nobody achieves these kinds of silly ideas. I’m all about being healthy physically, mentally and emotionally, so I think that striving to do this will be good for me in the long run.

Happy New Year.

So I didn’t get around to posting my fact yesterday, as I was not on the computer long. My friend and I went to see a movie at the Toronto After Dark Festival (they show horror, action, sci-fi, etc). We saw In Their Skin, which was a very strange movie, but it was pretty good.

So my 15th fact is: I am intolerant to eggs. Eating eggs or foods with a lot of egg in them gives me awful stomach aches! It sucks, especially since eggs are a great source of proteins for vegetarians, but oh well. Not much I can do about it!

My 16th fact is: I love tomatoes. I eat tomato almost every day, in sandwiches, salads, wraps, pasta, chili and more. Tomatoes are definitely one of my favourite things to eat. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that either!

My 14th fact about myself is: I am lactose intolerant. It isn’t severe, but I do have to be careful with what I eat. I can’t drink milk, or use it in cereal, so I drink and use almond milk in my cereal. If there is too much milk or cream in anything that I eat or drink, it bothers my stomach. I have trouble eating baked goods with too much butter, such as cake or certain types of cookies. I can’t eat too much cheese, sour cream or ice cream, or other types of dairy. I just have to be cautious!

Today is day thirteen of my 50 day challenge. My fact for today is that I love pasta! I think I could eat it every single day actually. I had some today! I made a tomato sauce last night using fresh and frozen tomatoes, and fresh zucchini, broccoli, green pepper, garlic and onion. I also added some canned thick tomato sauce to it as well as some dried herbs and spices. It was delicious 🙂

Eat My Martini

August 27, 2012

For anyone who lives in or near Toronto (Ontario, Canada) and likes martinis, you should go to Eat My Martini. It is this great martini bar on College street in Little Italy that has over 130 different kinds of martinis!

They are delicious. I went there about a week and a half ago and was very impressed by the selection! I am going back today and I am excited to try more of them. If you decide to check it out, you can go to their website to see their martini list (they also have other drinks and food) http://www.eatmymartini.ca/

Check it out!

My Poor Ankle…

August 6, 2012

So yesterday I managed to sprain my ankle. There were a bunch of kids playing in my side yard and I went outside to ask them to stay out of my yard (In the last few weeks I’ve seen these kids throwing rocks at my window and banging on my front window). So I was irratated and went outside to talk to them, ended up missing one of my stairs and fell. I thought I was fine until I tried walking back up my stairs and my foot hurt so much!! So I called my mom who told me to elevate my foot and put ice on it for an hour, and then ended up in the emergency room for 3 hours to learn that it’s just a sprain.

Today it is okay to walk on (other than being a little sore) but it’s actually very sore when I have it up. Last night it was extremely sore and I had trouble sleeping, even though I had it elevated and kept icing it. Can anyone suggest anything else to do? My grandparents are bringing over an ankle wrap to put on it so I can work this afternoon. I’m going to try to do little walking over the next few days to help it heal.

All I can say, is this sucks!!
