What’s Your Number?

September 23, 2013

I just rewatched What’s Your Number, which I bought last week for $5, and I forgot how funny it is. The film stars Anna Faris and Chris Evans and was released in 2011. It is about a woman who looks back at the past twenty men she’s had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her one true love.

It is very funny, although I must warn you there is some swearing and inappropriate language. Anna Faris is hilarious, and humorously awkward at times, and Chris Evans starts off as a womanizing jerk, but we later see he is a sweet (not to mention hot) guy. I think most women would like this, and probably some men too. I would give it a 9 out of 10. Check it out! 🙂

My 45th fact about myself is that I hate musicals! I don’t like musical tv shows, movies, plays or anything like that. People find that strange because I love going to concerts, but concerts are different. You are going to see an artist or band that you like and they will be playing songs that you like. You are only there for music. Musicals on the other hand are annoying because everything is normal, people are talking and then all of a sudden burst into song. I find it very irritating. I would much rather go see a comedic play or a horror movie. No musicals!

Movie Update

June 19, 2012

Over the last three weeks or so, I have been buying a lot of movies. Most of them are ones I didn’t already have, and a few of them I do have on VHS, but I wanted to get on dvd since VHS tapes are of poor quality. I wanted to share which ones I have bought, and ask if anyone can recommend some good movies I should look into.

As for Comedy/ Dramas, I’ve bought: Beastly, Just Friends, Night At The Museum, Rumour Has It, and Uptown Girls.

As for Horror/ Thrillers, I’ve bought: Carrie, Darkness Falls (replaced VHS), The Eye, Halloween Resurrection (replaced VHS), I Know What You Did Last Summer (replaced VHS), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream (replaced VHS), Stephen King’s It, and Vacancy. I also bought a movie that has eight horror movies within it.

Before you think that I have been buying a crazy amount of movies, hear me out. All of the movies I’ve bought were all inexpensive (usually $5-$10 each) and there are a lot more that I would like because I am trying to update my collection. Several of my friends and I enjoy having movie nights, and when I’m not feeling well or have free time I love watching movies, so it’s nice to be adding ones I don’t already have!

Right now I am mostly looking for horror, but I am open to other genres too. I just want to buy more that I know I would like to watch again, as well as checking out some new movies I’ve never seen! The main genres I like are horror, thriller/suspense, “chick flicks” and comedy (although I can be picky with comedy, but I love Adam Sandler, and Jim Carrey is pretty funny as well). So does anyone have any suggestions? 🙂

Top Ten Sandra Bullock Movies

February 28, 2012

I love Sandra Bullock movies, as I know many other people do. She has done many movies over the years, and I wanted to tell you all my top ten favourites that you should watch. These top ten movies were very difficult to put in order, some more than others, because Sandra Bullock is so great in each of them. So read my list, let me know what you think, and check these movies out sometime!

10. Premonition (2007) A depressed housewife learns her husband was killed in a car accident the day before, awakens the next morning to find him alive and well at home, and then awakens the next day after to a world in which he is still dead. I found this movie to be slightly confusing, but I can sometimes be easily confused when I see a lot of flashbacks or flash forwards. I thought Sandra’s acting was quite good though.

9. Speed (1994) A young cop (played by Keanu Reeves) must prevent a bomb exploding aboard a city bus by keeping its speed above 50 mph. Honestly, who has not seen this movie and is a fan of Sandra or Keanu? I’m not into action movies very much, but this one is entertaining. I also am a big of of Keanu Reeves. He and Sandra make great movies!

8. Murder By Numbers (2002) Two gifted high school students execute a “perfect” murder – then become engaged in an intellectual contest with a seasoned homicide detective. Ryan Gosling is in this movie, who I adore, and Sandra is great in her role in the film. The movie is a little different than others, but definitely one to check out if you’ve never seen it.

7. Two Weeks Notice (2002) A lawyer decides that she’s tired of being used too much like a nanny by her boss (played by Hugh Grant), so she walks out on him. This movie is very funny, and a must see if you enjoy Hugh Grant’s comedy. I’ve always thought of him to be a bit of an odd actor, but he and Sandra are nothing short of hilarious in this movie.

6. Miss Congeniality 2 (2005) After Cheryl Frasier and Stan Fields (played by William Shatner) are kidnapped, Gracie (an FBI agent played by Bullock) goes undercover in Las Vegas to find them. This movie is filled with hilarious moments that will keep you laughing all the way through.

5. All About Steve (2009) Convinced that a CCN cameraman is her true love, an eccentric crossword puzzler follows him as he travels all over the country, hoping to convince him that they belong together. This movie is incredibly funny, and you can read my review of it if you wish (it was one of my first posts). This movie did not get great reviews, but I believe it is great!

4. Miss Congeniality (2000) An FBI agent must go undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant to prevent a group from bombing the event. Sandra goes from being a stuffy FBI agent to a beauty queen in this very funny comedy that will make you want more, which is good since there is a second movie!

3. The Lake House (2006) A lonely doctor who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its former resident, a frustrated architect (played by Keanu Reeves). They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it’s too late. The Lake House is a great feel good movie, filled with suspense and romance. I adore this movie, and call it one of my top favourite movies ever. Keanu and Sandra are so great together.

2. The Proposal (2009) A pushy boss forces her young assistant (played by Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada. Ryan and Sandra are awesome together! I am a big fan of Ryan, and he and Sandra make this movie far too funny. There is no way you can sit through this movie without laughing!

1. The Blind Side (2009) The story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick, all with the help of a caring woman and her family. I had heard a lot of great reviews of this movie before deciding to watch it for myself. I figured maybe all the hype was going a little overboard, but I was wrong. This movie is amazing. The story of Michael is very sad, but it’s amazing how much he could accomplish just by being himself and having the help of Sandra Bullock’s character Leigh Anne and her family. Sandra is amazing in this movie. She brings so much strength and dignity to the character and really makes it her own. If you have never watched this movie, please do so. You definitely won’t regret it!

Over The Hedge

January 6, 2012

Over The Hedge is a cute movie from 2006, which I had never seen before a few days ago. I had heard it was a pretty good animated movie, so I decided to watch it for myself. The movie is about a scheming raccoon who fools a mismatched family of forest creatures into helping him repay a debt of food to a bear. He does this by invading the new suburban neighbourhood that popped up while they were hibernating, and ends up learns a lesson about family himself.

The movie has Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, Avril Lavigne and William Shatner as some of the voices of the animals. I believe the actors were all cast well as each voice, because they really made the characters stand out.

For anyone who loves animals, this movie has a raccoon, bear, turtle, skunk, cat, squirrel, among several others. You can’t help but love the animals and dislike the people in this movie, especially one woman who can’t stand animals and call them all pests. The movie tells a good story about how important family is and how it’s important to work together. The movie gives many laughs and cute moments.

I’d rate the movie an 8 out of 10. It’s very cute and adorable as far as animated movies go. 🙂

A great comedy from 2009

December 16, 2011

I’ve been awake since 6am this morning, and since I couldn’t sleep, I decided to put on a movie and have some laughs. I put on All About Steve, starring Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper. I have seen it many times before, and it always makes me laugh a lot.

For those who have never seen it, it is a movie where cruciverbalist (a crossword puzzle constructor, played by Sandra Bullock) becomes obsessed with a cameraman (played by Bradley Cooper) when she thinks that he is her true love. She follows him across the country, trying to convince him that they are meant to be together. He constantly tries to get rid of her, which creates a lot of laughs.

For some reason, this movie didn’t become very popular and wasn’t given the greatest ratings by critics, but I find it hilarious. If you enjoy Sandra Bullock movies, have an odd sense of humour, or just like movies with Bradley Cooper, try watching this one. It has a great ending and will put a smile on your face.

🙂

About two and a half weeks ago I went and saw Jack and Jill. Now, I know what you must be thinking… it’s an Adam Sandler movie meaning of course it’s going to be funny, but it was also be odd and immature? Well you are correct, since his movies are always like that, and I may in fact be biased because I think he is one of the funniest actors in Hollywood, but this movie was truly hilarious. I laughed so much my face actually started to hurt and I almost started to cry.

Jack and Jill is a movie where Jack (played by Adam Sandler) has to meet his twin sister Jill (also Adam Sandler) at the airport for her to spend Thanskgiving with them. She then refuses to leave, which ends up creating a hilarious situation.

If you want to laugh (a lot!) go out and see this movie. Definitely awesome.
