Top 5 Movies of 2011

January 2, 2012

Some great movies came out in 2011, and there were a lot of movies that came out that look great, but I have yet to watch. If you have some time (who doesn’t have time to watch a good movie?) check out these movies. They are in no particular order.

Scre4m: I have already written a review about this movie, but for those of you who have not read it, the movie is about a killer known as “ghost face” starts killing teenagers in a town called Woodsboro. As more and more people are killed, a girl and her friends have to figure out the “rules” as they find themselves living in a horror movie. It stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Emma Roberts. It’s a good movie for horror fans, and fans of the first three Scream movies. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Something Borrowed: This movie is about friendships being tested and secrets coming to the surface when terminally single Rachel falls for Dex, who is her best friend Darcy’s fiancé. It is filled with laughs as well as life lessons and is a great movie for just about anyone. The movie stars Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. I’d give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Crazy, Stupid, Love: This movie is about a middle-aged husband who’s life changes dramatically when his wife asks him for a divorce. He looks to rediscover his “manhood” with the help of a new-found friend Jacob, learning to pick up girls at bars. It stars Ryan Gosling (who I adore), Steve Carell, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone. It is incredibly funny and has a lot of nice moments. It’s definitely a great movie to watch. I’d rate it a 10 out of 10!

Jack and Jill: I have already reviewed this movie as well. It is a movie where Jack (played by Adam Sandler) has to meet his twin sister Jill (also Adam Sandler) at the airport for her to spend Thanskgiving with them. She then refuses to leave, which ends up creating a hilarious situation. I couldn’t stop laughing thoroughout the whole movie, and I’d give it a 10 out of 10.

Beastly: The movie is a modern-day take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer and Mary Kate Olsen. I am not a fan of Vanessa Hudgens, but this is a good movie that tells that even though you may feel you are ugly or “hideous”, if you are kind and compassionate, you may just find true love. I’d give the movie a 9 out of 10.

Top Ten Adam Sandler Movies

December 29, 2011

Adam Sandler is my favourite comedic actor. He has done so many great movies that I thought I should write up a simple top ten list of my favourite Adam Sandler movies, based on nothing but how funny they are.

Here’s my top ten:

10. The Wedding Singer (1998)

9. Grown Ups (2010)

8. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007)

7. Big Daddy (1999)

6. Mr Deeds (2002)

5. Jack and Jill (2011)

4. 50 First Dates (2004)

3. Little Nicky (2000)

2. Happy Gilmore (1996)

1. Billy Madison (1995)- My all time favourite Adam Sandler movie. Watch it now!

He’s done other great movies as well such as Anger Management, Waterboy, and The Longest Yard, but the above would be my top ten. It was difficult to put them in order because each movie is very funny. Look them up if you are interested in watching some hilarious movies.

If anyone is also an Adam Sandler fan, which movies would you pick as your top ten?

About two and a half weeks ago I went and saw Jack and Jill. Now, I know what you must be thinking… it’s an Adam Sandler movie meaning of course it’s going to be funny, but it was also be odd and immature? Well you are correct, since his movies are always like that, and I may in fact be biased because I think he is one of the funniest actors in Hollywood, but this movie was truly hilarious. I laughed so much my face actually started to hurt and I almost started to cry.

Jack and Jill is a movie where Jack (played by Adam Sandler) has to meet his twin sister Jill (also Adam Sandler) at the airport for her to spend Thanskgiving with them. She then refuses to leave, which ends up creating a hilarious situation.

If you want to laugh (a lot!) go out and see this movie. Definitely awesome.
