You may know that I had started watching the show Pretty Little Liars on netflix a month or two ago. They only have seasons one and two up, and I just finished watching them. Season three is airing on tv, so hopefully once it is done they will put it up on netflix immediately!

Pretty Little Liars is about four friends who’s friend went missing. They find out she was killed, and try to find out who killed her. As they search for answers, they start being stalked by someone calling themselves A. There are many suspects, and at the end of season two there are many questions answered, as well as many new questions asked.

Pretty Little Liars airs on Much Music, and is an awesome show! It has so much suspense and keeps you on your toes as you watch each episode. The actors are great, as is the script, and I am definitely looking forward to season three being added! I could watch it as it airs on tv, but there’s a lot I would have missed so I will have to wait until netflix adds it.

If you enjoy watching teen dramas (which you don’t have to be a teen to watch, as I haven’t been one for years!) I would check out this show. It’s really good!!

It always sucks when your favourite tv shows end. Whether they were only planning on doing a certain number of seasons, or they end up getting cancelled, it’s never fun. When I really get into a show, it becomes a part of my life (as odd as that may sound), and I almost feel like I’m losing a good friend when they end. A great tv show can give you laughs, make you cry, and sometimes they can make you feel like somebody else really understands what you’re going through. There are so many shows that are off the air now that I miss, and I want to mention a few of them. If you see repeats on tv or have Netflix, try checking out these shows.

One Tree Hill: We had 9 seasons, and the show just ended within the last two weeks or so. I actually cried during the final episode! I went out and bought all of the seasons though so I can watch it from the beginning again ūüôā

Friends: On for 10 years! It’s been off the air for a while now, but this was such an awesome show with a great cast and lots of laughs. My dad bought me a set of all 10 seasons and I watch it all the time!

Melrose Place 2.0: This was only on for one season and it was cancelled. I watched it on Netflix, and its a great show with tons of drama. It’s too bad it was only on for one season!

Desperate Housewives: It’s been on for 8 years and it’s ending this year. We only have a few episodes left, and the end will definitely have me in tears. I can’t believe it’s ending….

Malcolm in the Middle & 3rd Rock From The Sun: Two great comedies that I wish hadn’t ended! I want to get both series on dvd, but they can be hard to find!

Are there any shows that you miss?

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I sometimes go overboard with watching tv shows and movies on Netflix. Over the past month or two, I have been watching several different tv shows and have grown to love them. I know that (at least) several of my followers have Netflix and enjoy checking out new shows, so I wanted to tell you about three shows you should watch. They have all come out within the last 3 or 4 years.

The first show I wanted to mention is definitely my favourite out of the three; Drop Dead Diva.¬†Drop Dead Diva is a comedy/ drama about a girl named Deb who was a beautiful aspiring model who ends up getting into a car crash and dying. She is sent to a place where they decide where she will be sent (Heaven or Hell) and she ends up pressing the return button to return to earth. She is not sent back into her own body, but instead is sent into the body of Jane, a “plus-sized” (<–I hate that term)¬†brunette who is a very intelligent and successful lawyer. She has to now live her life as Jane, with all of Jane’s intelligence, but all of Deb’s memories. It is a great show that gives you tons of laughs and has some really great actors in it, including Brooke Elliot, April Bowlby and Jackson Hurst (who actually tweeted me about a week ago!!! Can you tell I was excited?). Definitely an awesome show that everyone should check out. Netflix has the first two seasons, we are waiting on the third to be put up, and the fourth season plays on Lifetime this summer.

The second show that I found is Accidentally on Purpose. The show was only created for one season (I¬†don’t think the ratings were great),¬†which I find depressing, but I found it to be incredibly funny. It is about a woman in her mid-thirties named Billie (played by Jenna Elfman) who has a one night stand with¬†twenty-two year old Zack (played by Jon Foster, who was in Stay Alive) and gets pregnant. They then end up living together and the show is all about them trying to get along and figure out¬†how they will raise the baby! I laughed through every episode, so I am not sure why they cancelled it, but at least we were given one season of a funny show. Look it up if you want to enjoy lots of laughs!

The third show that I found is Melrose Place 2.0. This is another show that was¬†cancelled after only one season due to ratings, and I have only watched half of the episodes so far, but it seems to be pretty good. I never watched the original Melrose Place (I was too young when it was on) but I decided to check this one out. It is about a group of twenty-something professionals living at the infamous Melrose complex. They deal with¬†drugs, relationships, violence, murder and more. The show stars Katie Cassidy (who has been on Supernatural and Gossip Girl), Jessica Lucas and Ashlee Simpson, among others. The cast all seem pretty good (except for Ashlee Simpson, but¬†that isn’t surprising) and the¬†plot has kept me interested so far so I think this¬†one would be great for those to check out who enjoy young adult dramas.

Netflix also has some other great shows, such as Dexter and The Walking Dead, both of them I LOVE. I still say that they could use some more variety in their tv shows and movies, but so far I have been finding some great stuff to watch. If you decide to watch any of these shows, let me know what you think of them. ūüôā

Three Movies on Netflix

March 17, 2012

So I thought I’d write a post about how I went a little crazy watching movies on Netflix today. I somehow managed to watch three entire movies, even with interruptions of phone calls, emails, and of course taking my dog on two long walks.

We originally had Netflix¬†last year for a month in May, and got rid of it because we didn’t think we would use it much. Then we got it back again maybe two months ago, and some days our household goes a little overboard with Netflix¬†movies and tv shows. I got into two shows off of Netflix: Accidentally on Purpose (which was only done for one season, which is sad!) and Drop Dead Diva (which I adore!). I watched all of the one season of Accidentally on Purpose, and all of the two seasons of Drop Dead Diva that have so far been added to Netflix. I am eagerly awaiting the third season!!

I didn’t have much I needed to do today, other than feeding and walking the dog, so I first decided to watch The Mist. This is¬†because I had never seen it before, it is based on of a novella by Stephen King (one of my favourite authors!) AND because one of the actors from Drop Dead Diva is in it. While I was watching, I also discovered that at least three of the actors from The Walking Dead are in The Mist, which is pretty cool because I really enjoy the show (the season 2¬†finale is on tomorrow night!). I found The Mist to be suspenseful and I liked most of the characters (except for one, but luckily they died), so overall I believe the movie was good, except for the ending. I guessed what the ending would be and I ended up being correct. There was a little surprise that I did not expect at the end, but in general I was not all that surprised and I was a little upset that the end was so predictable.

I then watched I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which I have seen before many times. It is an alright movie, but the first is definitely better. The last movie I watched was one called Surviving Crooked Lake, which is about these four young girls who have to survive after something happens to their guide. I’m not sure how old these girls are, but they seem awfully young. The acting was not good and the camerawork was all over the place. I was not happy with a few other things, but in case you decide to watch it, I won’t say what, although I do not recommend this movie.

So clearly I had too much time on my hands today, and I’ll try not to do the same thing again tomorrow. If you have Netflix¬†though and enjoy suspense, I’d say to check out The Mist. Even though I didn’t enjoy the ending, I don’t think it’s a bad movie. If you don’t have Netflix, you should consider getting it if you enjoy tv shows and movies, and/or can’t find anything to watch on cable or satellite. Netflix does have some different things on it that I wouldn’t normally see on cable, but at the same time they do need to add a lot more to it so that they have more of a selection. For $8 a month though, you can’t really complain.
